La Cañada Flintridge is a special enclave tucked between the San Gabriel Mountains, Angeles National Forest, and the San Rafael Hills. Local Attractions: NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory is located in the area and as the primary United States research and development center for the robotic exploration of the solar system, including the creation of the Mars rover. Descanso Gardens is famed for its beautiful paths winding through elegantly landscaped botanic gardens and forests. It boasts the largest collection of camellia species in the U.S. and is famous for its carved pumpkin display at Halloween known as Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns.
